Washington D.C. (June 25, 2012). Today, the Cameroon Professional Society (CPS) is proud to announce Mr. Jacques-Greg Belobo as the winner of the 2012 CPS Distinguished Award for Excellence in the Arts. Jacques-Greg has distinguished himself as one of the foremost opera singers in the world and has been a trailblazer in promoting this musical form in Cameroon.

As one of the lead members of the Semper Orchestra based in Dresden, Germany he performs frequently with conductors such as Zubin Mehta, James Levine, Myung-Whun Chung, Marc Soustrot, Fabio Luisi, Jacques Delacôt, Michel Piquemal Massimo Zanetti, Sebastian Weigle, Paul Goodwin, Roland Hayrabedian, Johannes Wildner,  Sarastro (Die Zauberflöte), King (Aida), Hill (Bohemia), the Sacerdote Great (Nabucco), and Kaspar Eremit ( Der Freischutz), and the commander Leporello (Don Giovanni), Giorgio (I Puritani), Escamillo (Carmen), Taddeo (L'italiana in Algeri).

We are incredibly blessed to have someone with such talents and can only encourage others to pursue their dreams\” remarked Dr. Denis Foretia, President of the Cameroon Professional Society.

This award was created to recognize the contributions of Cameroonians in the arts. Through his artistic work in opera singer, Mr. Belobo, represents that shining light for all Cameroonians.

The award will be presented during the 2012 Distinguished Annual Congress of the CPS scheduled for July 27 – 28, 2012 at the Marriott BWI Airport Hotel. The winner of the 2012 CPS Distinguished Award for Excellence in the Sciences will be announced tomorrow June 26, 2012 on the CPS website (www.cpsociety.org).
